ABOUT ARTIST

Thirusha Abeyewardene is an independent Sri Lankan artist who has recently relocated to Colombo from Jerusalem after seven years. The focus of her work during this period has been creating awareness on Palestine.

The imagery she uses in this body of work symbolises Palestinian heritage and resistance; hope, despair, and the love of the land. She often writes poetry to accompany her artwork. While Thirusha's signature medium is upcycled cardboard, she works across a variety of media, incorporating elements of nature from the land.

An internationally selling artist, Thirusha lived and worked in Kyiv and Colombo prior to Jerusalem.
