Shyamali Perera

ABOUT ARTIST

Born in Sri Lanka in 1961, Ayoma Shyamali Perera has been devoted to painting for more than forty years. She began her artistic journey at the Cora Abraham Art Classes under Mrs. Lathifa Ismail, where she first exhibited her work as a student. Later, she continued her training with Dora Tomulic (Croatia) at the Plâté Studio and “Arabesque” in Colombo, gradually shaping a style that balances classical discipline with contemporary expression. She is also a student of Mr. Karunasiri Wijesinghe.

Her work has been shown in group exhibitions such as Once Upon a Paintbrush (1976) and Sunnidhi (1997) at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery. Today, she remains an active painter, committed to exploring new ideas while staying connected to the foundations of her early practice.
