Ranjith Perera

ABOUT ARTIST

Ranjith Perera is a narrative realist whose oil and charcoal paintings bring to life the quiet dignity of rural Sri Lanka, its traditions, and native wildlife. Growing up at Trinity College, Kandy, and influenced early on by the master muralist David Paynter, Ranjith developed a style marked by warmth, precision, and an expressive energy that captures the spirit of his homeland.

After more than two decades in Sri Lanka’s rubber industry, rising to a directorship at Forbes & Walker Ltd., Ranjith returned fully to his lifelong passion for painting. His works depict toddy tappers, temple processions, mat sellers, local architecture, and fauna—moments that tell stories and preserve the rich cultural fabric of Sri Lanka.

Guided by Nadine David, a former pupil of David Paynter, Ranjith refined his technique and found his current voice. His paintings have been shown nationally and have found homes both in Sri Lanka and abroad.
