Priyantha Weerasuriya

ABOUT ARTIST

Priyantha Weerasooriya is a Sri Lankan artist born in 1979, hailing from Yatawaka in the Gampaha district, where he currently resides and also maintains his workplace in Nittambuwa.


He has followed short courses in Life Drawing at the Chelsea College of Art in London and completed the Foundation Fine Arts (Painting) Diploma at Central Saint Martins College of Art, London. He also worked as a Gallery Assistant at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, London, United Kingdom, which contributed to his early exposure to international art practice and gallery environments.


His exhibition history includes both solo and group shows in Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. Selected exhibitions include Marga (2023, Harold Pieris Gallery, Colombo), Vasa Varna (Living Colours) (2020, Paradise Road Galleries, Colombo 03), The Spiritual The Noble Sage (2019, London, UK), Tradition and Divergence from India (2017, The Noble Sage @ Camden Image Gallery, London, UK), The Framer’s Gallery (2010, London, UK), Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery Autumn Exhibition (2010 & 2008, Dulwich Picture Gallery, London, UK), Jeannie Advent Gallery (2010, Dulwich, UK), The Noble Sage Art Gallery (2009, UK), Ashburnham Arms (2007, London, UK), and Suriya Art Gallery (2006, Colombo, Sri Lanka).


He continues to work across Sri Lanka with an active practice informed by his training and exhibition experience in both London and Colombo.
