Indika Wijewardana

ABOUT ARTIST

Indika’s Journey has been anything but conventional. Over the years, he’s worn many hats; interior designer, statistician, marketer, photographer, travel guide, and explorer. But somewhere along the way, he realised that what truly called to him was art.

Growing up, Indika admired his father’s creativity but never imagined it could lead to a career. He pursued mathematics with the aim of being an engineering intake, he ended up studying statistics at the University of Colombo- though “ studying” might be generous, given how little it sparked his interest.

Instead, he poured his time and energy into drawing and design, quietly building a name for himself. He chased every opportunity that came his way, designing interiors for state events, sketching portraits of people like Yanni and even Pope Francis, and hosting his first solo exhibition just after finishing after university. Looking back, its clear that missing out on engineering was the best thing that could‘ve happened.
