ABOUT ARTIST

Dhammika Gunasekera is a Sri Lankan artist known for his captivating and unique creations. Transitioning from a passionate art collector to a full-time pursuit as an artist in 2016, Gunasekera has established himself as a prominent figure in the local art scene.

Drawing inspiration from his background in Civil Engineering, Gunasekera brings meticulous attention to detail and a precise hand to his artwork. Blending surrealism and precision, his pieces harmonize colours and shapes, inviting viewers to explore their own emotions and imaginations.

With influences ranging from comics like Tintin and Asterix to the serene harmonies of Senaka Senanayake, Gunasekera's distinctive style defies traditional boundaries. He incorporates elements from the theories of artist Wassily Kandinsky, infusing his compositions with visual impact and strategic shape placement.

Gunasekera primarily works with lightfast coloured pencils on watercolour paper, showcasing intricate detail and expressing his artistic vision with remarkable clarity.
