MAGGA- meaning ” path” in pali – is a central concept in Buddhism, symbolizing the journey toward enlightenment, the inner peace , and the alleviation of suffering. In this exhibition, Gayan explores the intersection of spirituality, culture, and the contemporary design. Drawing inspiration from Theravada Buddhist teaching, particularly the Buddha’s sermons in the Tipitaka, his work bridges ancient wisdom with modern aesthetics.
This body of work invites viewers on a contemplative journey through color form, and philosophy . Each piece is carefully crafted using the tapestry method, incorporating a distinctive Sinhala font , symbolic color palettes, and intricate mathematical patterns. Through mixed media techniques- such as expressive calligraphic strokes on canvas- Gayan captures the unseen weight and emotional complexity of the human mind.
