Padrig Morin
ABOUT ARTIST
Brittany‑born artist based in Sri Lanka
Padrig Morin left his native Brittany in 1986 to study Buddhism and Pali in Sri Lanka, quickly mastering Sinhala and later earning a degree in Tamil and Indian civilisation at INALCO‑Paris. What began as mnemonic sketches of Hindu deities soon grew into three decades of painting that fuses Celtic, Hindu, and Middle‑Eastern motifs in bright, flattened, almost naïve compositions.
Morin’s series “From Celtic Land to South Asia” maps his personal migration—from Brittany through India and the Middle East to his adopted Sri Lanka—using symmetrical layouts, vivid colour blocks, and dense tapestries of gods, animals, and floral symbols. While conscious of the political turbulence he has witnessed, the work ultimately seeks to transmit calm, empathy, and a shared spiritual pulse across cultures.
Now settled in Colombo with his Sri Lankan family, Padrig Morin continues to explore cross‑cultural mythologies, translating them into visual narratives that invite viewers to travel, pause, and find quiet connection amid diversity.
