Born and raised in Jaffna, Sri Lanka’s Nothern Province, Catharina feels deeply connected to her island homeland, an identity she expresses strongly through her art. While Jaffna is often associated with war, destruction, and suffering, Catharina seeks to reshape this narrative by showcasing the beauty, history, and cultural richness of her home. Through nostalgic memories of her childhood in the 90s, she reveals a simpler era, one rooted in the architecture and traditions that define Jaffna’s charm.
